Pupil Distance Disaster: My GlassesUSA Nightmare & Customer Service Black Hole! 😤

My recent experience trying to buy glasses online for my son was an absolute nightmare, and I feel compelled to share it as a cautionary tale. My son found a pair he liked using the virtual try-on, but when they arrived, he just couldn't see properly. We rushed back to the doctor, only to find out the pupil distance (PD) was completely wrong. It turns out, the website, GlassesUSA, just assumes a PD if you don't know to provide it, which, of course, means it'll be incorrect for many. What truly exasperated me was trying to fix it; you simply cannot reach a human being for a real conversation. Their email responses were so slow, making the whole process an endless, frustrating loop. This is why I had to call them.

Customer: I'm calling about order #[Order Number]. My son's new glasses have the wrong prescription, or rather, the wrong pupil distance. He can't see with them, and your website just assumed the PD! CS Rep: I understand your frustration, and I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Our system does use a default PD if one isn't provided during the order. We can certainly get this corrected for you. Customer: Corrected? How? I've been trying to reach someone, and it feels impossible! My son needs these glasses. Do I really have to send them back before you even start on the new ones? He'll be without glasses! CS Rep: I completely understand your concern about your son being without his glasses. Our policy does require the original pair to be returned first for inspection before we can process a new replacement order. However, once we receive them, we can expedite the production and shipping of the corrected pair. Customer: That's incredibly inconvenient, but fine. Just tell me what I need to do to send these back and get the correct ones as fast as possible. CS Rep: I will send you a pre-paid return label to your email immediately. Once tracking confirms your return, we will begin production on the new lenses with the updated PD you provide.

The reason I left this review on the website is to hopefully prevent others from falling into the same trap of assumed measurements and non-existent customer service.
